This functional movement assessment tool does not diagnose your child. It is a simple evaluation tool to determine your child's rotational movements in typical and atypical children for healthy milestone development. Movement Lesson is based on the principles of balance, gentle touch, rotation and counter balance. The Newborn Movement Assessment™ is a great tool to help parents of typical as well as atypical kids to assess if their child’s movements are normal or delayed. Please note, even though you see words like "baby" or "newborn" the assessment tools, process, and plan of action are the same for an older child or adult.

1. Assess your child for rotational movements.

Rotational movements are more than just range or motion.

Rotational movements play a significant roll in your child's development process because the more rotational movements a baby has the more movement and milestone success the baby will experience.

The less rotation a baby (child) has in their system, the higher the risk for movement and developmental delays physically and cognitively.

Please note that the baby assessment is called the "Newborn Movement Assessment," but the assessment can be done on any child of any age. A child's birth experience plays a roll in determining your child's risk for developmental delays due to movement restrictions in their system.

"At 7 months old Josiah seemed stuck in his development. Despite getting PT/OT/vision therapy weekly (and 2 ABM intensives) he was still not able to roll, sit, or visually track objects.

"I was at a loss of how to help him. The doctors said “well...he did have an anoxic brain injury so we will just have to wait and see if he’s able to develop more.

"Josiah came into our home when he was 5 weeks old after a rough start (prenatal drug exposure / traumatic birth at home / abandoned without being fed for days / found by fire dept at only 3 lbs and severely hypothermic / coded 3 times which resulted in brain injury / Intubated). Also at 6 months old he had a full cranial vault reconstruction for craniosyostosis. The doctors were grateful he even survived those first days/weeks of life.

"THEN I found Movement Lesson!

"After having quick success using her free online videos I was all in! I felt empowered that I could help my son. One year later I have completed 2 training segments in AZ and continue to learn the ML techniques to help my son through developmental stages. He is now rolling, sitting from laying down, transitioning in/out sitting, can track you across the room, feed himself, rocking on hands/knees, army crawling (everywhere), and just learned how to pull to stand.

"Sky is the limit for Josiah

"Thank you Michelle Turner for your incredible work - it makes ALL the difference"

2. Watch the video, assess your baby (child), and fill out the assessment form.

The assessment part starts at 2:45

3. Initiate the gentle healthy touch.

The purpose of the Movement Lesson™ Touch is to initiate, stimulate, or enhance rotation and weight transfer in the system.

The Movement Lesson™ Touch and Technique is the only method in the world that uses all the principles of movement to bring a body back to it's most neutral state.

In doing so, a person experiences enhances foundational movements which allows them to move better than their previous state of movement.

To learn more about weight transfer, watch the video "Why Movement Lesson™ Works." Click here.
