Stage 3 - Transitional
6-7 Months
LEARNING HOW POSITIONS CONNECT
Your baby is no longer learning how to stay in a position. They are learning how to move from one organized position into another.
This is where movement becomes intentional, connected, and adaptable.
Movement Lesson focuses on the relationships that allow transitions to emerge naturally
Many movement challenges are not caused by weakness. They occur when the body cannot organize movement between positions.
Movement Lesson focuses on helping the system build transitions before compensations develop
THE 2 KEY TRANSITIONAL MILESTONES
WHAT IS HAPPENING
The body is learning how one position connects to another.
- Rolling connects to sitting.
- Sitting connects to all-fours
This is where movement becomes integrated
Separate skills become a system
SIGNS THE SYSTEM MAY NEED SUPPORT
- Difficulty transitioning into sitting
- Falling into positions
- Avoiding rotation
- Getting stuck in movement
- Limited exploration
These observations do not define a diagnosis. They may indicate areas where development can benefit from additional support.
WHY THIS STAGE MATTERS
A child can achieve a milestone through compensation.
Movement lesson is not focused on transitions alone.
We focus on how the transition is organized.
When integration is strong:
- Movement becomes fluid
- Coordination becomes adaptable
- Locomotion develops naturally
- Learning accelerates
